54321 WOD and Results from Saturday's Air Force WOD and WOD 2

Scoring System is as follows:

Time is converted into points

Example: AF WOD time: 10:00x .60 (seconds)=600

WOD 2: reps: 50x5 (multiplied by 5 to have the equivalent amount of points as the AF WOD)=250

=450

54321 WOD will be the total reps subtracted from the first 2 WODS for the lowest possible points.

The lower the Points the better. To be in the negatives is what we are looking for!

 

 And the WOD for Sunday's event is the 54321 WOD!!

We will start at 0800 Sunday, February 14th! 54321 WOD is:

For Reps:

5 minutes of Rowing for calories

4 minutes of Box Jumps for reps (20/24)

3 minutes of hang squat snatches for reps (45/75)

2 minutes of wall balls for reps (10 ft high)

1 minute of Hand Stand Push Ups for reps

The lights went out…twice (during the same heat for both WODS!). The cops came to kick out illegally parked cars, after MANY announcements. The scores had to be revised. Murphy was right on with his saying of “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.” That seemed to be the theme at the first ever Midwestern CrossFit Sectionals, hosted by CrossFit-TNT out of St. Charles, Missouri. But the staff wouldn’t give in. WODS continued, with the help of open dock doors, in a “romantic atmosphere” as described by CrossFit-TNT owner, Rochelle Simmer, as she tried to make light of the situation (yes – pun intended). 

She worked on keeping the spirit of the competitors up in an otherwise minimally lit box. Hey, it must have driven the competitors to work harder, as our top male, Pete Rasmusen, came from that heat. Cars were eventually moved by their owners or the towing company – seriously, who parks in the Fire Lane?!?! And the revised scores are now available. 

 

Today’s competition was fierce as various Midwestern Crossfitters competed for the top 30 male and 30 female spots, ensuring their entrance into the CrossFit Regional Competition, hosted by Front Range CrossFit out of Denver, Colorado from April 30 to May 2, 2010. Competitors were represented by CrossFit Omaha, Windy City CrossFit, CrossFit Lincoln, CrossFit St. Charles, CrossFit Chicago, CrossFit Valley Park, CrossFit of Naperville, CrossFit of Rockford, CrossFit Springfield just to name a few. Every competitor gave their all, with the audience encouraging and coaches and friends pushing, as goals were met and expectations were exceeded. There was blood, heavy breathing, tears, pain, joy, fear, passing out and minimal injuries that came with today's two WODS.

 

Pete Rasmusen completed the Air Force WOD in a time of 3:53 (233 points), along with 47 clean and jerks (235 points), to give him a running total of -2, paving a huge 57 point difference between our second male competitor, Justin VanBeek. VanBeek came in with 55 points. Our locals Josh Nimmo and Jake Howard (from CrossFit Valley Park) made it within the top ten. CrossFit TNT’s own Paul Cegon came in at 21^st, with 290 points.  The top female athletes were Kathy Slowinski, who completed the AirForce WOD in 5:58, which earned her 358 points, and her clean and jerk of 39 (195), with a running total of 163. Our second placed female was Jessica Heller, with a score of 244.18. Kody Varner rounded out third place with a total of 269 points.

 

The first WOD consisted of four burpees, with four burpees every minute, on the minute, 20 thrusters, 20 SDHP, 20 push press, 20 overhead squats and 20 front squats. 21 women and 27 men DNF. Things started to really heat up with the second WOD of as many reps of clean and jerk as possible within a five minute period.

To watch the integrity within every CrossFitter was amazing. Barbells fell on heads while trying to get the bar overhead, and others gave their all as the last rep didn't count because time ran out.

 

The box has been cleaned, and Sunday’s WOD is set up. We are ready for Day Two! Competitors, come prepared for a grueling 5-4-3-2-1 WOD. And as our saying for Sunday goes, just be sure you don’t blow your WOD on the first pull.
