The 2010 Midwestern Sectionals are over and CF TNT’s box is empty. The last two weeks with Rochelle Simmer working over 15 hours a day for two weeks straight, Rochelle’s fiancé Jeff, Sarah and Diane dedicating every second of their free time to make everything perfect, TNT was able to open their box which is brand new, and put together the first ever Sectionals.
With over 600 people, (athletes, staff, volunteers, spectators, sponsors and vendors) our box was packed with the crowd cheering, the athletes grunting and the music blaring!
It was a rock concert with athletes.
Friday night all athletes registered and got to meet each other, while grabbing there goodie bags that The Air Force (our biggest sponsor) and Nutrilite/Perfect water (our second biggest sponsor) put in all bags.
Saturday morning started off with Nick Cardozo signing the National Anthem. You could see the crowd in awe of his performance. The Air Force WOD turned a lot of heads, as it was not so cuties after all. We saw some CrossFitters run to the bathroom to meet Mr. Pukie, while others had tears of sorrow that they had a DNF, instead of a place to move on to regionals. Every athlete put 100% of their effort into reaching their goals.
Weather it was to do a WOD in a certain time they wanted to reach, or to max out on reps of the C & J or the 54321 WOD, it was amazing to see so many athletes rock it out!
At the end of the 54321 WOD, you could see the exhaustion from every judge, athlete and volunteer who spent many hours inside TNT waiting to see the results of the weekends top 30 male and top 30 female.
Rich Hill from CF St. Charles worked his tail off on the Air Force WOD, and with 5 minutes left to before the deadline, he realized that after his 4 burpees, the minute beeped and he had to start 4 more. By the time he was able to catch his breathe, he was not able to get in any more skills. Even though Rich had a DNF, his determination shined through as he did an excellent job on his C & J and the 54321 WOD. Those are the kind of CrossFitters that love the sport. It was for the experience of competing and reaching personal goals, such as Rich Hills.
It was a shame to see so many athletes give up after they did not make it through the Air Force WOD. Some of the heats in WOD 2 and the 54321 WOD had empty spots that should have been filled with athletes.
MO held its own as some of the top 30 made it to Regonals. There is Jake Howard and Josh Nimmo from CF Valley Park, Jeremy Mhire and Brian Llewellyn from CF Springfield and of course TNT’s very own Paul Cegon who made it with the 29th spot!
Pete Rasmusan came in an amazing 1st place with the Air Force WOD of 233 (3:53), C&J -235 (47) and 54321 -259 (259)= (261)
The women from the Midwest were serious when it came down to throwing some serious weight around and in 54321 repping out box jumps and handstand push ups. Everyone was amazed at seeing the mother/daughter duo competing in the same heat almost right next to each other. Both Baily and Dawn Murphy made it to the Regonals.
Our number one women Katarzyna Slowinski came in above the rest with the Air Force WOD 358 (5:58) C & J -195 (39) and 54321 with -201 (201)= (-38)
The Weekend ran smooth, with heats starting right on time and the judges not giving an inch. Nothing but great reviews from CF TNT hosting a wonderful event.
CF TNT would like to thank the Air Force and Nutrilite/Perfect Water, along with all the other sponsors and vendors. To all of the staff of TNT, volunteers and judges that were in it 100% to make this event go off perfect. To see all of the scores, you can go: to http://scores2010.crossfit.com/scoring/midwest/

Thanks Mike and Rochelle. I did enjoy the events and knew it would be a challenge to finish the Air Force WOD. I am really glad Tony held me to the standard he was instructed because he stopped counting my burpees once the form went. haha - I earned every bit of that DNF.

Rich, DNF or not, you came out and rocked the house. I saw your c&j and you looked great bro. Back locked in, triple extension, it was awesome! Hope to see you at Saturday rehab and Sunday competition a few more times before you move.

At Frank
School gardens as a way to keep migrant farm worker’s children down is not the point of the article. She was trying to engage readers and point out the absurdity (in her opinion, not mine) of the circumstances; I did not read anything that pointed to conspiracy theory.
To me, the most important issue is whether or not research has been done on the efficacy of the programs. They cost money for schools (with little of it and less time in the day), so they should be well vetted before installed. She writes that there is no evidence that school gardens positively impact test scores. That answer skirts the question of whether the gardens are successful in other, equally important ways. I'm sure you are right and good research has been done, I am just not quite as familiar with it.
Finally, I don't know the authors of The Atlantic so I won't speculate on their editorial decisions, but for what it is worth, I have seen articles from Caitlin Flannigan in the majority of last years issues.

Sweet peas' old-fashioned charm call for the simplest of vases, like this square, green glass pitcher. Arrange a big bunch loosely in your hand, sort the colors out so that the darker shades are distributed throughout the paler toned blossoms. Then snip a half inch or so off the stems with a pair of sharp shears , adfand plunk the whole bunch into a vase filled with cool water. Fluff them up, and that's all there is to it with such satisfying flowers.

Does it not depend on the method by which the $100/$120 is paid? Someone who values their time is more likely to settle for $100 instantly rather than go out of their way in 3 days' time to pick up an extra $20... once the subject has to go away and come back to pick up money, it makes little difference how long they have to wait so they opt for more. So they're willing to give up $20 to avoid wasting time in the future - would that make sense?

HHH Yes, the design of national policy is important, how our economic development plans for the next five years, how the implementation, how to make our economy even faster. Are designed to advance our focus to invest money in what ways it should be carefully arranged.
