Andrea Tredway is our March Athlete of the Month...Congratulations!
I started doing Cross-Fit kind of by accident. I was really bored with just doing cardio, but I was afraid of weights, and wasn't sure what else I could do. I had a serious back injury as a teenager and have always been scared of reinjury, so I just didn't try weights, or anything else for that matter. Exercise was never a priority for me until I got older. But after a year of doing the same old stuff on the treadmill, being bored, and gaining weight, I decided it wasn't working, and it was time to try something different. So I looked into personal training, and I found CrossFit with Rochelle and Sarah. It was the best thing I have ever done!
Not only did I start seeing immediate results physically, I found that the encouragement of Sarah, Rochelle, and everyone else really helped me overcome my insecurities and shyness. I feel strong and confident in myself, and I know the right and wrong ways to do exercises. I'm not afraid of hurting myself anymore. I discovered that I'm capable of things I never imagined, and that confidence that I get from doing CrossFit carries over into other aspects of my life - my job, my marriage, and my friendships.
I'm not the greatest athlete at CrossFit. I groan every time I see box jumps on the WOD. But there are a lot of things I like, especially doing different workouts every day. I'm in awe of some of the people who I see working out, and admire their dedication. It's inspiring, especially when I really feel like sitting home and watching tv. But when I go to CrossFit TNT, I know I'm going to see great people who push me to do my best, cheer me for my accomplishments, and I know I'm going to feel better about myself if I push just a little harder, even if it's just to push myself off the couch.
