Athlete of the Month - Jason Clark

After COVID hit, I went from being in outside sales to working from home, Like most people, eating healthy and staying active became an afterthought. I noticed myself putting on weight, getting tired more often, and wearing "lazy day" clothes pretty much every day. When I hit my tipping point, I realized I was about 80 pounds heavier than I should be and I wasn't getting any younger. It felt like my motivation and metabolism hit a brick wall.

When I moved out to New Town about a year and a half ago, I noticed the TNT sign almost immediately, on my daily commute. By the way, what a great name, Today not Tomorrow, it really hits home, as most people are constantly waiting until Monday, or next month to start their diets or new workout routines. Before calling TNT to inquire about their programs, I tried the traditional gyms, personal training, and I even gave that 75 Hard a try ( I made it 3 days LOL). After all of that, I finally made the call to Oscar to see what TNT was about.

When I had my 1st session with him, I was a little intimidated. There was a CF class going on and I noticed all of these really in-shape people doing upside down push-ups. To say I felt "out of place" was an understatement. In my mind, I was like maybe I should fake a call and take off since I clearly don't belong here, but I decided to stick it out. Immediately, Oscar put me at ease and started me off with some basic exercises and movements that I could handle. I could tell right away he treated his clients more than just "another paying customer". After about 4 weeks of training with Oscar, I transitioned into the Transformation Academy program. It was in TA I realized how awesome and special TNT is. Every single coach is absolutely phenomenal and really goes out of their way to help you.

After getting through TA, I was hooked, and jumped into Swift right away. I went from feeling awkward in stretches and some of the movements, to getting through the workouts and challenging myself each class to get a little better and finish on pace with the group. I stopped worrying about how I looked in the workouts and just kept showing up. To say a fire got lit in me, is an understatement. This 48 year old who was feeling lethargic and out of shape was starting to feel competitive again and had all this new energy all of a sudden and was starting to feel healthier than I had in a long time. After getting comfortable with Swift, I wanted to give CF a try and I also signed up for the nutrition program with Courtney. She has done an excellent job partnering with me to find a diet that works for me and gets results while challenging me at the same time. Courtney has become my accountability coach and I would not have achieved any of the results I have without her help.

I'm about 5 months in at TNT, and a combination of scaling up to CF and cleaning up my diet, I have been able to lose 40 pounds. I also feel stronger and have more energy than I have in years. I also want to say I couldn't have done any of this without all of the awesome members of TNT. If I have ever taken a class with you, I have learned something from you, by watching your techniques during the workouts/stretches and trying my best to emulate. I also can't think of any class I've ever been a part of where I didn't have someone encouraging me or giving me a fist bump. I'm very honored I was chosen for this Athlete of the Month recognition and it's still hard to believe based on where I was when I started. TNT is the best community and gym I've ever been a part of and I'm looking forward to getting those other 40 pounds off and who knows, maybe some of those upside down push ups as well!
