From My Beginning To Yours - Blog #60


One of my favorite months of the year, October is here! On the 24th, my husband and I will celebrate our 14 year anniversary. Our 8 year wedding anniversary. During October, I start to plan for the Holidays and enjoy the fun of our kid's excitement over Halloween. At TNT, the 1st Monday of October, as with every other month, means it's time for a "Benchmark Workout"! This month we completed the Olympic Total. The workout consists of 20 minutes to find your max rep Snatch and Clean and Jerk. I beat my best from last year by 13 lbs. I would have liked to end a little higher than 266 but am glad to see the increase! I was so excited to see friends and fellow athletes besting themselves, lifting more than the year before!

With that behind me, I'm looking forward to seeing how October will play out in the gym. With the month's programming pushing us to work for longer periods of time on technique, warming up and cooling down I'm sure I will be learning new things and seeing improvement in my lifts, etc.

This week, I let a lack of sleep and busyness get the better of me and only made it to TNT 3 times. Next week, I plan to lean on my accountability team a bit more, set multiple alarms and push through to maintain my schedule!

I've been practicing my double unders at home and am looking forward to my next one on one with Coach Rochelle. It feels good to spend time focusing on the aspects of CrossFit I'm most anxious to see myself improve!
